When the owner was 16, in 1976.He bought a 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback. It did not have a wiper switch that worked and a reverse gear. The reverse gear was easy to find, but wiper switch took him two years to find. This was before the internet, magazines, and he was in a very small town. He worked in a small salvage car company. He started calling other junk yards and after they stop laughing at him, they told him, they told him no they did not have the wiper switch he was looking for. He went to the library and started looking thru out of state phone books for auto salvage yards. Same thing, but they would recommend other salvage yards. He started accumulating quite a list of parts for other vehicles. Some antiques, classics, and the lists grew and grew. Finally, in 1980 National Parts Locator Service was born.
